FRIDAY
Not without some difficulty crossing a barren landscape beyond Lagos the promontory at Sagres is shrouded in mist. I might have guessed it would be and it lends a certain mysteriousness about being there. I hear the sea waves crashing below but the dense mist obscures any view.
One of the "end of the world" locations!

So you have reached the end of the world! I have read the blogs from the Algarve stops. Henry the navigator was the first to initiate discoveries by sea wasn't he. I don't think he sailed himself but set up sailing schools and really developed navigation. I think I like Tavira best compared the Lagos and Albufeira, with the Moorish influence. It has a quaint feel. Lagos coast line is lush too isn't it - when it is not crammed with people. You must be EXHAUSTED dad. How are you feeling? Caroline
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing a keen interest. Living in Portugal would add some interest for you particularly as you know tge Algarve. Tavira I preferred too and much fewer visitors than the other main towns. I was just another visitor in Portugal whilst in Spain I was a 'pilgrim' (travelling Caminos de Santiago) which added special interest to me.
