A long wait in the Piazza and then failing to enter the Basilica was disappointing. It closes early evening and that was that. The friendly Swiss guard was unable to solve the problem either!
An idea I had to continue my Vie Francigene credentials 'passport" from my former journey to Roma came to an abrupt end. I am not sure I would find suitable 'stamp' places going south anyway.
