Barcelona and Gaudi's Sagrada Familia

A short time in Barcelona but enough to catch some Gaudi classics. La Pedrera demonstrates his unique architectural style and the Familia Sagrada is a masterpiece. Still incomplete but magnificent. I reckon it's doubled its size since I saw it as a child. It should be one of the World's wonders and one must give credit to the Catalunyans for not giving up with it.

I connect with Hannibal's trail here in Barcelona and stay with it for the majority of the journey ahead. The Euro Velo 8 route from Cadiz to Athens passes through here as well.

  1. Walking on the roof of La Pedrera is a unique experience - I guess you wouldn’t have had time for that?!

  3. A coincidence, but yesterday an article in L’Independant newspaper mentioned that Hannibal and his elephants camped at Illiberris (Elne - 5 kilometres fro St Cyprien) I guess that will be your route Tom! Garth

    1. That's added some credibility to the journey thanks Garth. Indeed it is on my way to St Cyprien. Hannibal's army and elephants probably devoured all food sources in that vicinity. Your French is good to be reading L'Independant. Nice find thanks
