Over the Pyrenees to Le Boulou

The screenprint of my movements today sums it up. The Pyrenees were looming and in the heat challenging. Entering France at this high point it becomes clear how natural geography dictates borders. The Via Augusta took this easier pass through La Jonquera and approaching the range I could see why. Prior to the Roman road it seems most likely Hannibal took his elephants this way. A recent article in L'Independant confirmed his army camped in Edne a little beyond the border. All as reported by my French correspondent and good friend Monsieur Brookfield.

Tomorrow the highlight is to meet Monsieur et Madame Brookfield in St Cyprien, just beyond Edne.

  1. Excellent progress Tom. Be aware to avoid the copious amounts of ancient elephant dung on your journey down the Pyrenees Orientales to Illeberris, and onwards to Saint Cyprien tomorrow! Bon voyage mon ami, Monsieur Brookfield (& Glen)
